The pair of Remi Boutillier and Tom Jomby on Thursday in Abuja won the doubles title of the GSL Tennis Open.
The French duo defeated Arjun Kadhe and Ronnie Schneider 6-4 6(3)-7 10-3 in the final match at the Abuja National Stadium.
The win gave them the $25,000 cash prize and a chance to boost their ATP rankings.
It was however a weary performance from India’s Kadhe, who reached the singles final by defeating fellow Indian Suraj Prabodh earlier in the day.
His partner, Schneider, however put up a spirited performance, especially in the second set which they managed to take 7-6.
The pair of Kadhe and Schneider had won the 2018 Dayak Tennis Open doubles.
During the brief presentation of cash prizes and plaques to the players, Dayo Akindoju, the President of Nigeria Tennis Federation, congratulated the players, organisers and sponsors for a hugely successful tournament.
He also urged tennis lovers to come out on Saturday to watch the GSL Open singles final.
“I encourage you to invite your friends to come and witness tennis at its best. There will be funfare and you don’t want to miss it,” he said.
The 2018 GSL Tennis Open singles final will be played at the Abuja National Stadium on Saturday from 3 p.m.
