Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has revealed his dad is the sole reason for him wanting to play for Gabon at international level.
The Arsenal forward was born in Laval, France back in 1989 to a Spanish mother, and is therefore eligible to play for both major footballing nations.

But despite being good enough to represent both, he opted to play for Gabon – the African nation in which his father was born back in 1965.
Like Pierre-Emerick, his dad Pierre Francois was a professional footballer who played for a number of teams in France including Nice, Toulouse and Le Havre.
But the defender, who is currently a scout for AC Milan, also made 80 appearances for Gabon, and as a result his son only wanted to play for one team at international level.
“I was very young when I decided [which country to play for],” Aubameyang told Arsenal’s official website.
“I wanted to follow in my father’s footsteps. He was captain of the national side in the past.
“I could well have chosen to play for Spain or France. I played for the French under-21 team, but I realised very quickly that in my heart I wanted to emulate my father.”
