By Adeboye Amosu: The League Management Company have announced an adjustment to the fixtures of the 2017/2018 Nigeria Professional Football League season due to the participation of four clubs in CAF club competitions, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Chief Operating Officer of the LMC Salihu Abubakar made public the adjustments in a memo circulated to all the clubs on Monday.
Abubakar explained that the NPFL draw wwas made before the continental fixtures were released hence the adjustments being made as Nigerian clubs advance in the competitions.
The four NPFL clubs all made it to the first round of the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup.
In the Champions League , Plateau United will face Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia, while MFM FC will come up against Algeria’s MC Alger.
Two-time African champions Enyimba are up against Energie FC in the Confederation Cup, while Akwa United will battle Al Ittihad of Libya.
Two Matchday 10 fixtures, Akwa United versus Heartland and Go Round versus Plateau United, which were originally scheduled for last Sunday, February 25 are now to be held on Wednesday, March 21.
Likewise, this weekend’s Matchday 11 fixtures involving all four clubs playing continental matches have been moved to Wednesday, March 28.
The fixtures are Enyimba versus MFM FC, Plateau United versus Yobe Desert Stars and Katsina United versus Akwa United.
Matchday 13 fixtures were also affected in the adjustments with two of the affected fixtures moved from March 18 to April 4. Dates for two others will be announced at a later date.
The matches to hold on April 4 are Plateau United versus Kwara United and Rangers International versus MFM while date for those of Enyimba versus Go Round and Rivers United versus Akwa United would be determined later.
Abubakar said all other scheduled fixtures for Matchday 11 will hold this Sunday, March 4.
