The group launched in Abuja in the absence of Obasanjo who clamoured for it. Former Osun State governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, and former Cross River State governor, Donald Duke, were present at the launching of the Coalition for Nigeria proposed by former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, in a statement of criticism he wrote about President Muhammadu Buhari last week.According to a report by Premium Times, the launching of the movement is taking placing at the Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja, with the notable absence of Obasanjo himself.According to Oyinlola, the group is not yet a political party as it only wants to create a platform for Nigerians to break away from the status quo.He said, “We’re not a political party, at least, for now. We recognise the facts that by the dictates of the Constitution, you can only contest on the platform of a political party.”He also denied that the group is an attempt to legitimise the legacy of Obasanjo, saying that the allegation is “a bit off the mark.
