    Swansea Name Former Wednesday Coach Carvalhal As New Manager

    Swansea City have appointed former Sheffield Wednesday manager Carlos Carvalhal as their new manager, according to a statement on the official website of the Premier League club.
    Former Besiktas and Sporting Lisbon boss Carvalhal was handed the job initially until the end of the season with the option of an extension.
    Carvalhal replaces Paul Clement who was sacked on the 20th of December after a string of poor results.
    The Portuguese coach who was also sacked by Championship Sheffield Wednesday on Christmas eve becomes Swansea’s fifth permanent manager in two years.
    Swansea are bottom of the English Premier League table with 13 points from 20 games.
    Carvalhal’s first game in charge of Swansea will be against Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday, 2nd January, 2018 at the Liberty stadium.

    Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins said he was delighted with the arrival of the Portuguese at the club.
    “We are very pleased with the appointment,” he told swanseacity.com.
