Arsene Wenger is proud that the likes of Super Eagles forward Alex Iwobi and other players who came through Arsenals academy are evidence of the club’s strong youth policy.
Wenger stated this after fielding four of Arsenal’s youth players Joe Willock, Reiss Nelson, Ben Sheaf and Josh Dasilva in Tuesday’s 1-0 win against West Ham in the quarter-final of the Carabao Cup.
And Wenger says utilising Arsenal’s production line of young talent will always remain a key part of the club’s philosophy.
“On Saturday (against Newcastle), we played with four players who have been educated here: Iwobi, Wilshere, Maitland-Niles and Bellerin,” Wenger told arsenal.com.
“So, you look at the other teams who played at the top and you tell me who has played with four players who have been educated in their academy? We do that every time we can but overall I believe it remains the basis of our philosophy.
