Members of the National Youth Service Corps PHOTO: NANThe Architectural Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) has appealed to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to post its graduates to construction firms, instead of schools.
ARCON President, Aliyu Umar made the appeal at the 5th induction of 130 new members in Abuja.
He said the appeal became necessary to enable qualified architects to be exposed to the construction industry, which is the practical aspect of the profession.
According to him, posting them to schools would have negative effect on their skills and quality at the end of the mandatory one-year service.
Umar suggested that architectural graduates should rather be assigned to serve in firms where their skills would be tested and increased.
He added that such would also prepare them for the final professional qualifications and induction as full members.
