Some students performing at the eventPacelli School for the Blind and Partially Sighted Children held its end-of-the-year party. It was organised by the Catholic Mission and other humanitarian groups to celebrate children with visual impairment.
The event, which attracted religious leaders, cooperate organisations, alumni of the school, parents and guardians, featured fun activities such as talent hunt, singing, dancing, acting and vocational art exhibition.
An alumnus of the school, Nneka Ojieh, who is now an employees of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, said she came to the institution as a rehabilitation student, feeble and vulnerable but was given hope and future.
Nneka said parents of disabled children should encourage and push their children to showcase their God-given talents, noting that there were lots of talents embedded in every child.
The chairman of the occasion, Mr. Anthony Matuluko, who celebrated his last birthday with the kids, said the society needed to be educated on how to handle visually impaired persons.
