Gov. Rochas. PHOTO: TWITTERSpeaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Acho Ihim, has denied that the lawmakers endorsed Governor Rochas Okorocha’s son-in-law, Chief Uche Nwosu, as the preferred 2019 governorship candidate.
A member of the House, Henry Ezediaro, reportedly claimed that Nwosu who is the chief of staff, Government House, Owerri was endorsed by the 27 lawmakers.
In a programme yesterday on an Owerri- based private radio station, Darling FM, Ihim said the House under his leadership was only constitutionally empowered to make laws and not to endorse candidates for political parties. He debunked the claim that the 27 members donated 27 buses, daring the governor to bring Nwosu for the position.
‘’That is unthinkable, it is the height of madness. Imo State House of Assembly is not a political party. It is an institution established for law making and making resolutions that will impact positively on the lives of people of Imo State and Nigeria by extension.
