Officials of the Lagos State government this morning continued to clear the debris under the Ojuelegba bridge to ease vehicular movement in the axis of the state.
This comes hours after a truck with unknown registration number conveying a huge load of foreign wooden sheets (HDF) tilted while negotiating the curved of the bridge on Tuesday night and spilled its content on four vehicles – a Toyota Corolla car and three commercial buses.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said they activated an emergency response plan to the scene with other stakeholders, as soon as they received a distress regarding the incident.
“The prompt response by emergency/ security operatives to the scene culminated into the rescue of two trapped victims who were extracted with the aid of the agency’s light rescue equipment and immediately taken to the hospital by the officials of the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASEMBUS) for further medical treatment, but unfortunately three lives (male, adult) were confirmed lost to the incident,” LASEMA said in a statement on Wednesday.
They added that the officials and other responders ensured that all the wooden sheets and accident vehicles were cleared off the road to avoid any secondary incident and a free flow of traffic around the axis.

The General Manager of LASEMA, Mr Adesina Tiamiyu, noted that proper investigation would be conducted into the incident.
He also warned heavy duty drivers to ensure that their vehicles are in good conditions and that loaded goods are properly secured to the flatbed before embarking on any journey.
The LASEMA boss further advised that overloading of trucks be discouraged, as it often leads to fatal accidents on the highways.
Officials of the other agencies on the ground for the rescue and recovery operation include THE Nigeria Police Force, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Red Cross, SEHMU, LASTMA, and Lagos State Fire Service, among others.
