Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested three suspects in connection with the theft of a commercial tricycle in the state.
The suspects, identified as Chuka Nwanze (23), Arinze Anyansi (24) and Miracle Anyadiegwu (24), were arrested on January 20, 2026, at about 5 pm by policemen attached to the Trans-Ekulu Division, with support from members of the Neighbourhood Watch Group.
According to a statement released on Friday by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Daniel Ndukwe, the suspects were apprehended at the Ugbodogwu area of Trans-Ekulu while attempting to sell a stolen Bajaj tricycle.
He said, “Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command, acting on credible information, arrested three male suspects who were seeking a buyer for a stolen Bajaj tricycle at the Ugbodogwu area of Trans-Ekulu, Enugu.”
There has been a recorded uptick in “one-chance” robberies involving tricycles, as well as the outright theft of these vehicles.
Because tricycles are often acquired through hire-purchase agreements, their theft often results in the total loss of livelihood for the victims, making these arrests a high priority for local authorities to maintain public order.
