The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar III has said Allah would guide and grant the President-elect, Bola Tinubu the wisdom and strength to pilot the affairs of Nigeria.
Abubakar spoke in a congratulatory message to Tinubu, and was contained in a statement by the Deputy Secretary-General of Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, NSCIA, Prof. Salisu Shehu.
He said Tinubu’s trajectory of hard work, sacrifice, and dedication in public service speaks volume.
The monarch described the president-elect as an experienced human and financial resources manager.
The statement reads: “Tinubu would also foster unity, peace and engender sustainable development that we all crave.
“We would like to remind him that as a Muslim in a position of authority, leadership is trust and a lot will also be expected from and demanded of him by the people of this great country.
“We pray that the Almighty Allah bless him abundantly and grant him success so that his tenure shall be a reference point in the annals of leadership in this country.
“We also beseech Allah to guide, guard and grant him the wisdom and strength to discharge his duties creditably.”
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, declared Tinubu winner of the presidential election after gaining the highest number of votes.
Tinubu defeated his rivals, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso of New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP.
