Newly trained constables will be deployed next year to complement the efforts of police in their desire to ensure free, fair and credible exercise.
Speaking at the passing out parade of the trained constables in Ilorin on Thursday, the IGP reminded the graduands that the police force under his watch has zero tolerance for indiscipline and acts that are at variance with police professionalism.
Usman Baba asserted that the bedrock of policing is discipline, saying “how far you go into this career depends greatly on your character, discipline and integrity.”
He admonished them not to engage in any act unedifying their good names, families and the police as they launch their careers in the police force.
Usman Baba commended President Muhammadu Buhari for repositioning the police for optimal service delivery in the country.
He disclosed that the new recruits will be posted to their various local government areas to further entrench the policing strategy of the Federal government towards addressing communal crimes in their respective areas.
In his speech, the Commandant of the Police Training School in Ilorin, ACP Sulu Gambari Abdul, charged the new constables to watch their actions and inactions as they are now in the public light because they have repercussions.
“We expect you to replicate that and go out there to treat everyone fairly and impartially without fear or showing any favours to anyone irrespective of their background, ethnic and religious identity,” he added.
