The former deputy governor, who resigned from his position to join his mentor, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, said he took the decision to resign following injustice meted on him and his supporters. The immediate former deputy governor of Kano State, Professor Hafiz Abubakar, has dumped the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).Abubakar, who dumped the All Progressives’ Congress (APC) resigned from his position as deputy governor in August, confirmed that he is now a member of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).The former deputy governor, who resigned from his position to join his mentor, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, said he took the decision to resign following injustice meted on him and his supporters.He said, “They thought I am irrelevant. At this juncture, I decided to move out so that whoever thinks I am irrelevant will find out the truth or otherwise of his assumption. This is my main reason of leaving the PDP. I have notified ward and local government leadership of the party.”He also complained that he was not consulted over the choice of the running mate for the party’s governorship candidate in Kano, Abba Kabir Yusuf. He said, “Although I will not seek the position, because I came from same local government with the governorship candidate, but courtesy demands that I should be consulted. But some people sat down and took decisions without our consent and sent the selected candidate to national headquarters of the party.”Abubakar also disclosed that his request to field his loyalist for a slot in the Kano state house of assembly was also denied. The former PDP gubernatorial aspirant lost the ticket to Kwankwaso’s favourite.
