The Not Too Young To Run movement distanced itself from the Senate President Saraki’s presidential ambition. The ‘Not Too Young To Run’ movement has expressed dissatisfaction over Senate President, Bukola Saraki’s declaration using its platform.In a statement released on Thursday, August 30, 2018, the movement distanced itself from the Senate President’s presidential ambition.The movement further reaffirmed its identity as a citizen led non-partisan movement dedicated to defense of democracy, political inclusion and transformative leadership.ALSO READ: Saraki officially declares to run for President against Buhari”Whilst addressing participants at the town hall, Senator Saraki declared his intention to run for the office of the President in the 2019 elections.  “The movement wishes to express its disappointment with Senator Saraki for usurping a platform designed for young aspirants to dialogue with party leadership to advance his personal political ambition. “We strongly condemn this act by the President of the Senate and dissociates ourselves from this political move,” the statement read in parts. Buhari signs Not Too Young To Run billPresident Muhammadu Buhari signed the ‘Not Too Young To Run’ bill into law on Thursday, May 31, 2018.The bill had sought to reduce the age qualification for the office of the President from 40 to 30 years; age for the office of a state governor from 35 to 30; Senate from 35 to 30; House of Representatives, from 30 to 25; and state House of Assembly, from 30 to 25.However, when signed, the age limit for governors and senators remained same.
