After barricading the entrance of the National Assembly Tuesday morning, the Department of State Services (DSS) operatives have departed the national assembly.
The masked DSS operatives prevented lawmakers from entering the National Assembly complex as early as 7:00am claiming they were following ‘orders from above’.
After several hours blocking the entrance, the operatives eventually allowed the lawmakers into the complex without their cars. Journalists and staff were, however, not granted access into the complex.

SSS blockade of National Assembly not authorised — Osinbajo
The departure of the DSS from the National Assembly comes minutes after the sack of the Director-General of the DSS, Lawal Daura by the Acting President Yemi Osinbajo.
According to AFP, Osinbajo described the siege by the DSS “as a gross violation of constitutional order, rule of law and all acceptable notions of law and order.”
Daura was directed by Professor Osinbajo to hand over to the most senior officer of the State Security Service. Matthew Seiyesa will take over as the DG of the State Security Service.
