After an impressive pre-season Callum Hudson-Odoi has been promoted to the Chelsea first team. Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri has stated that teenager Callum Hudson-Odoi will be part of the first team for the new 2018/19 season.Hudson-Odoi impressed again for Chelsea in their International Champions Cup (ICC) fixture against Premier League rivals Arsenal.The 17-year-old has proven himself to the new boss who said he will not be loaned out as is the tradition with youngsters at Stamford Bridge.Asked about the future of the youngster, Sarri stated even though he is young, he will be a valuable addition to the squad for the new season.He said, “Hudson-Odoi is a very young player. We have to wait.“In the future, he will be a very, very strong player for sure. He will stay with us (in the senior squad) for the season.”Hudson-Odoi who was part of the Chelsea team that won the Youth FA Cup was a constant threat to Hector Bellerin on the left side of Chelsea’s attack and was eventually brought down for a penalty by the Spaniard.Alvaro Morata missed the resulting penalty and was guilty of not converting the subsequent chance.Sarri responded to questions about his confidence and gave assurances that he is counting on him. He said, “I don’t know if he is low on confidence. “Maybe it was hard for the last three days, intense, so maybe this match he was a bit tired. I am not worried about Morata.”Big things are expected of Callum Hudson-Odoi who was part of the Chelsea U-18 team that progressed to the final of the UEFA Youth League.He is expected to be in action when Chelsea face Manchester City in the Community Shield scheduled for Sunday, August 5.
