Buba Galadima: Only honest Nigerians are leaving Buhari, APC, says R-APC chairman

Buba Galadima, the chairman of a faction of the All Progressives’ Congress (APC), the Reformed APC, has declared that all the politicians defecting from the ruling party and turning against President Muhammadu Buhari are honest.Galadima said this while speaking at the official opening of the secretariat of the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) in Abuja on Thursday, August 2, 2018.The factional chairman said the only politicians unwilling to abandon Buhari and the APC are those who are corrupt and afraid of prosecution by Buhari’s government if they defect.”All those running to APC or with Buhari are those who have their hands soiled with corruption. They are afraid of prosecution, but those running away from Buhari and APC are the only honest Nigerians,” he said.The APC has been hit with a wave of defections that has seen three state governors, 14 senators, 37 members of the house of representatives and over a dozen state executives dump the party in just one week, with most of them heading to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).Some of the most prominent defectors include Senate President, Bukola Saraki, and state governors: Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto), Samuel Ortom (Benue) and Abdulfatah Ahmed (Kwara).CUPP alliance gathers paceThe CUPP unveiled its new secretariat at 13, Thaba Tseka Street, Wuse II, Abuja, on Thursday with Galadima, PDP national chairman, Uche Secondus, Social Democratic Party (SDP) national chairman, Olu Falae, and a host of others present.While speaking earlier on Wednesday, August 1, Secondus disclosed that the secretariat will be a rallying point for all the parties in the coalition to deal with issues.On July 9, 2018, dozens of political parties had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to oust the current administration of President Buhari in the 2019 presidential election.According to the terms of the MoU, the coalition resolved to back a single presidential candidate to oust Buhari and promised a unity government with a joint manifesto that will usher in great governance never before seen in the country.
