Kogi REC raises alarm Over 293,241 unclaimed PVCs

PVCResident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Kogi State, James Apam has raised alarm over the large number of unclaimed PVCs (293,241) lying idle at the State Independent Electoral Commission’s (SIEC) office.
Apam who disclosed this while speaking during a stakeholders meeting at INEC headquarters in Lokoja ahead of August 11th Lokoja/Koto Karfi Federal Constituency bye-election said they have distributed about 78, 000 PVCS both old and new.
A breakdown analyses of unclaimed PVCS indicated that from the 2014 registration 199,880 were uncollected and the new CVR amounting 93,461 have not been claimed giving a total of 293, 341 uncollected PVCs.
He said, “We started the continuous Voters registration (CVR) since July last year, as at 6th of July we registered 121, 996 males in Kogi state, 129, 643 females bringing it to a total of 261, 629 persons registered from July last year to 6th of July this year.
We have also received applications for transfer amounting to 10, 217 persons in the same manner we received application for the replacement of damaged PVCs amounting to 12, 661 persons.
