Twelve newly promoted police officers in Kano State have been decorated following their outstanding contributions to the security of lives and property in the state.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Rabiu Yusuf, who decorated the officers on Wednesday, asked them to keep up the good work.
The decoration ceremony was attended by the state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, who was represented by the Commissioner for Information, Mr Muhammad Garba.
The officers, including the Command’s Public Relations Officer Magaji Majia, are part of the 400 personnel recently promoted following the recommendations of the Inspector General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris to the Police Service Commission.
Addressing the gathering at the event, the governor’s representative thanked the police authorities for including the State Command among those whose personnel were elevated.
He added the recent promotion approved by the IGP was not unconnected with the successes recorded so far in the fight against crime and criminality in the state.
Garba said: “On behalf of his Excellency, the governor, I wish to extend our profound gratitude to the IGP and indeed the Police Service Commission for recommending Kano Command among the beneficiaries of this promotion.
“We, as government, will continue to maintain synergy between various security agencies for the safety of our people.”
Reacting to his promotion in an interview with Channels Television, Majia assured the police authorities and the people of Kano State that they would not relent in their effort to ensure adequate protection of lives and property of citizens.
He said, “I give thanks to God and I appreciate the efforts of the IGP and the Police Commissioner here in Kano for the opportunity they gave me to serve.
“I shall continue to do best in ensuring that the good people of Nigeria are kept informed on the activities of my command.”
