By James Agberebi: Manchester United returned to second place in the Premier League table after they came from a goal down to beat Chelsea 2-1 at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Nigeria forward, Victor Moses, was in action for Chelsea before he was replaced in the second half.
Willian put Chelsea 1-0 up but goals from Romelu Lukaku and substitute Jesse Lingard off an assist from Lukaku secured the win for United.
United are now on 59 points, 13 points adrift of leaders Manchester City who have a game in hand while Chelsea are in fifth on 53 points.
Chelsea’s early pressure almost yielded the first goal on four minutes only for Alvaro Morata to hit his effort against the crossbar off Marcos Alonso’s cross before David De Gea tipped Eden Hazard’s follow-up strike over for a corner.
After weathering the early onslaught from Chelsea, United went forward and had their first attempt on goal in the 23rd minute but Thibaut Courtois made a save.
A minute later, United broke on the left through Anthony Martial whose dangerous low cross was blocked by Andreas Christensen.
In the 28th minute Alexis Sanchez almost gave United the lead after Martial broke free on the left but his shot inside the box lacked enough power to beat Courtois.
Chelsea eventually broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute thanks to Willian who smashed past De Gea after he was played through on goal by Hazard.
Alonso went close for Chelsea on 35 minutes after running into the United box but hit his right-foot shot way off target.
United equalised in the 39th minute through Lukaku who slotted the ball past Courtois from a pass by Martial inside a crowded box.
Chelsea should have retaken the lead on 41 minutes but Alonso hit his effort over the bar after he was set up by Hazard.
Chelsea went close again on 57 minutes but De Gea got down quickly to parry away Danny Drinkwater’s long range shot before Antonio Valencia cleared away the rebound.
Lukaku should have scored his second goal on 68 minutes after attempting a bicycle kick from Sanchez’s cross which Courtois tipped over the bar.
De Gea was almost embarrassed following Willian free-kick but he quickly stopped the ball from sneaking across the line after initially fumbling the first attempt.
With 15 minutes remaining, United took the lead off a header from substitute Lingard from Lukaku’s cross.
Chelsea almost responded immediately through Willian but his shot from a tight angle was saved by Courtois.
Morata had the ball in the back of the net in the 86th minute only for his effort to be ruled out for offside.
