Suspected herdsmen have reportedly shot a man dead while returning from his cassava farm in Ipao, Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State on Sunday.
The Chairman of the Local government, Mrs Olukayode Abiola told Channels Television on the phone that the attackers, suspected to be Bororos unleashed the attack on 32 years Tunde Olayemi and his friend who luckily escaped.
A senior Chief in the town Tope Awe also gave a similar narrative.
The deceased, Olayemi’s hand was reportedly mutilated after being shot.
The Police Public Relations officer in the state could not be reached on phone to speak on the incident but the body is said to have been deposited at a mortuary in Ijesa Isu, a town within the area.
Last month, a pregnant woman was murdered when suspected Fulani herdsmen invaded Orin farm settlement in Ido Osi Local Government Area at night to rob and unleash terror.
Governor Ayodele Fayose had also last month held series of meetings with stakeholders to ensure herdsmen/farmers crisis are properly handled to prevent violence.
At the meeting, he vowed not to allow any person or group of people throw the state into unrest.
