Salomi PaguThe Nigerian Army says its troops on Operation Lafiya Dole at Pulka, has rescued one of the Chibok girls abducted by the Boko Haram terrorists in 2014.
This is as over 2, 000 people were rescued with the surrender of 200 Boko Haram insurgents during a three-day coordinated ground and aerial operations in the Lake Chad Region.
A statement signed by the Deputy Director Public Relations, Theatre Command of Operation Lafiya Dole, Col. Onyema Nwachukwu, said preliminary investigations revealed that the girl was identified as Salomi Pagu and is the same Chibok girl whose name was on the list of abducted girls published online with serial number 86.
The statement reads: “Troops of Operation Lafiya Dole deployed in Pulka today rescued one of the Chibok girls abducted by Boko Haram terrorists earlier in 2014.
“So far, preliminary investigations reveal that the young girl identified as Salomi Pagu is the same as the Chibok girl published on serial 86 of the online list of abducted Chibok girls.
“Currently, the girl who was intercepted in the company of another young girl, Jamila Adams about 14 years old with a child are in the safe custody of troops and receiving medical attention.’’
The Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj-Gen Rogers Nicholas yesterday said, that during the operations, troops also recovered arms and
ammunitions, including Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs), while several terrorists were also killed from their Lake Chad Island hideouts.
His words: “The operation is going on there in the Lake Chad Region. As at Thursday, some of the Islands have been captured from the Boko Haram insurgents. Some of their fighting equipment were also recovered.
