Senator Dino Melaye showed off his football skills in a novelty football game as part of activities that marked the 50th birthday of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, on Sunday, December 17, 2017. In a series of pictures shared by the lawmaker in the early hours of Thursday, December 21, other members of parliament were also present on the pitch as the match between the Senate versus House of Representatives ended in a 1-1 draw. Another match between the National Assembly and a team made up of members of the private sector ended in a 3-1 defeat for the lawmakers.Melaye can be seen playing the ball on the pitch in some pictures while he was between the posts as a goalkeeper in other pictures. According to the chairman of the organizing committee, Sen. Tanimu Aduda, the proceeds from the event will be used to cater for the less privileged, orphanages and internally displaced persons (IDP).
