Cancer. PHOTO: News RepublicaLift Above Poverty Organisation (LAPO) has lamented the increasing level of poverty in the country, which it said, has become a problem to many households.
Speaking in Benin City, during the LAPO-C4 project midterm review meeting with partner community-based organistations (CBOs), Executive Director, LAPO, Sabena Idowu-Osehobo, said has demonstrated uncommon commitment to poverty alleviation through the implementation of innovative credit and non-credit empowerment programmes targeted at vulnerable populations and communities.
Osehobo said: “LAPO believes that poverty is further reinforced by ill-health with cancer and other chronic ailments linked to the increasing level of household poverty in Nigeria.”
She listed the LAPO-C4 project activities to include advocacy for policy change, massive awareness campaign and the provision of screening and referral services in community and primary health centres in target state of Lagos, Edo, Rivers, Imo and the Federal Capital Territory.
