By Bamidele Boluwaji: It was a sad story for Nigeria’s Gombe Bulls at the ongoing 2017 FIBA Africa Champions Cup for Men in Tunisia on Wednesday as they suffered a third consecutive defeat in the club championship, Completesportsnigeria.com reports
The Nigerian team was beaten 103-75 points by Groupement Sportif Des Petroliers of Algeria on Wednesday afternoon to confirm their poor position in the tournament.
Groupement Sportif Des Petroliers dominated the first two quarters with 29-16 points and 27-18 points to end the first half with a 56-34 points advantage.
Gombe Bulls came out stronger in the third quarter to win with 27-23 points but could not maintain the tempo in the last quarter as Groupement Sportif Des Petroliers won the period with 24-14 points to end the game with 103-75 points.
With the result, it is clear that Gombe Bulls are out of the tournament but they have to play the remaining two games to avoid FIBA sanction.
