David De Gea: Manchester United goalkeeper ranked 7th best in the world by France Football Magazine

The panellists ranked Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer as the best goalkeeper in the world. David De Gea may have equalled the existing record with his 14 saves against Arsenal on Sunday but he could only get 7th place in a new ranking of the world’s best goalkeepers.The Spaniard was ranked 7th in a list compiled by a panel of experts in a poll for France Football magazine this week.The panel was made up of former goalkeeping greats; Santiago Canizares, Lionel Letizi, Sepp Maier, Mark Schwarzer and Francesco Toldo.The panel did not show as much love to De Gea as many fans of the Premier League may have expected. Fellow Premier League shot-stoppers, Hugo Lloris and Thibaut Courtois were ranked above him.Manuel Neuer takes the podiumFrance Football used a scoring system identical to the Ballon d’Or award the magazine also runs. Unsurprisingly, Manuel Neuer of Germany and Bayern Munich ranked first; all five panellists put him at the top of their lists, earning him the maximum 30 points.
