    #EndSARS: IGP orders re-organisation of ‘notorious’ Police unit

    The SARS unit has been asked to now operate in the State and Zonal Commands with immediate effect. The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has ordered the reorganisation of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) after a wave of condemnation against the police unit on social media.Numerous Nigerians took to social media to accuse the unit of several misconducts ranging from harassment, extortion, assault and extra-judicial killings.In response, the IGP expressed his concern with public interest and demanded for more effective service that’s in line with the nation’s rule of law.This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, on Monday, December 4, 2017.
