Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho heaped plaudits on his players following their impressive 3-1 win against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
A brace from Jesse Lingard and an Antonio Valencia strike helped the Red Devils claim the win which ensure they reduced the gap between them and Premier League leaders Manchester City to five points.
“I think it was a phenomenal game. I loved the way my team played and fought but I have also to say, Arsenal played in some periods, amazing attacking football creating difficulties for us. I have to say my players deserve all the great words, I don’t so many more in English but phenomenal, fantastic…,” Mourinho said after the game.
“The plan was when they have the ball we all have to defend, starting with the attacking players and when we have the ball to counter-attack fast. We had another ball hit the post, we had Lukaku facing Petr Cech and of course they had chances but we fought and had a great goalkeeper too. I think we deserved it.
