Vincenzo Montella: Milan sack manager; Gennaro Gattuso takes over

Despite spending heavily in the summer, the Italian club has not scored in five home games and are seventh in the league. Italian club, AC Milan have sacked their manager, former Italian International Vincenzo Montella following a depressing goalless draw at Torino over the weekend. Former Milan midfielder, Gennaro Gattuso is set to take over.Milan have not scored in any of their last five games at the San Siro. Six of their 14 games in the league have ended in defeat.Despite massive spending during the summer that saw players like Giorgio Chiellini, Hakan Calhanoglu and Franck Kessie join the club, they are presently seventh in the league, 11 points off fourth position which would get them a place in Europe next season. Poor performance and inability to get the best out of the new players are most likely the main reasons for his Montella’s ousting.The Italian club languish in seventh place, 11 points away from the fourth position which would guarantee a place in the Champions League next season.
