State governors have already been paid N522.74 billion and N243.8 billion from the refund. President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered for the negotiations of the release of the outstanding balance of the London and Paris debt refund on Monday, November 27, 2017.While meeting with the Nigeria Governor’s Forum (NGF) at the Presidential Villa on Monday, the president directed the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun and Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele to negotiate with the governors for the release.During the meeting, the president also charged state governors to ensure that they pay all the salaries owed workers before Christmas.History of Paris Club Refund releasesThe first tranche of the refund paid to state governors was N522.74 billion, while the second tranche, the sum of N243.8 billion, was paid in July.
