Rivers State Governor, Mr Nyesom Wike has said his administration is committed to promoting a strong opposition in the country.
This according to him, is to enhance that Nigeria’s democracy is being preserved.
The governor gave this assurance in Lagos while receiving New Telegraph Man of the Year Award.
Wike also recalled that his government had upon assuming office in 2015, embarked on several laudable initiatives that were of direct benefit to the people in Rivers state.
The governor, who was represented by his deputy, Mrs Ipalibo Banigo, said Rivers State will take the lead for others to follow.
The state’s Chief Executive also vowed to always promote credible opposition in the interest of the growth of Nigeria’s democracy.
He said: “I want to say that my administration will continue to deliver quality projects and programmes to the good people of Rivers State.”
The governor added that aside from promoting good governance, he will good to work for the enthronement of the rule of law in the country.
