The Flag Officer Commanding, (FOC), Western Naval Command, Rear Adm. Sylvanus Abbah, on Friday in Lagos charged newly promoted officers to expose criminals in the society and not fraternise with them.
Abbah gave the charge while addressing 17 newly promoted officers at the command, in Apapa, Lagos.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that officers were promoted to the ranks of Commander, Captain and Commodore.
Abbah told the officers: “There are so many criminals around us. You are not to fraternise with them.
“Try to expose them and make way for the innocent citizens of this nation to live in peace.
“Remember you murder your sleep to make sure the citizens sleep well, because you are a happy man when there is peace in the country.
“When there is no guaranteed peace for people to operate peacefully, then you are failing in your calling as a professional soldier.”
The FOC advised the officers to continually pray for the nation and their colleagues, so that everyone would continue to move forward.
