Saturday, April 20th, Nigeria’s hottest music artistes teamed up to release Nigeria’s first EPL-themed song “Leggo”.
The all-star collaboration features Burna Boy, Kizz Daniel, Mayorkun, Small Doctor, Kaffy and Zoro in possibly the biggest collaboration to hit the Nigeria music space in recent years.
The single was also released with an exciting video, inspired by their passion for the world’s most popular football league, The English Premier League.
The music artistes were all kitted in EPL team jerseys, singing sonorously in support of their respective favourite football clubs.
Dance queen Kaffy led the energetic music video choreography with sleek moves.
Recall that Leggo had been teased all week with subtle banter between the superstars on social media.
A dialogue centered around Small Doctor began on Monday where the “Penalty” crooner praised Chelsea, despite their heavy defeat to Premier League leaders, Liverpool.
Self-acclaimed Mayor of Lagos, Mayorkun, Dance queen, Kaffy and rapper Zoro joined the conversation to throw subtle jabs at “Omoiya Teacher” as Twitter users fanned the banter.
The conversation continued on social media on Thursday with a picture carousel of the stars clad in their team’s jerseys, leading fans to believe the superstars were taking to the football pitch to settle scores.
The 5-minute Leggo track is executively produced by TY MIX and directed by Sesan.

The Universal Music Group (Nigeria) act can be proud of his performance as he grew in panache to showcase previously unseen burrows of his artistry.
Date: April 18, 2019
Venue: Landmark Events Centre
Organizers: Universal Music Nigeria
Details/Takeaway: An event that started nearly four hours late, it finally got underway with Wurld performing his wonderful fan-favourite, ‘Show You Off,’ before an initially frustrated crowd and his performance – and even his vocals – initially suffered for it.
But as the show progressed, so did the super-talented man-of-the-hour’s magic just as the designs on his stylishly designed attire started battling for life. What we saw by the middle of the event was an act that overcame and started delivering effortlessly in a way that connecting with the crowd – a mob, really – became organic.
An engrossed Wurld performing at Landmark Event Centre on April 18, 2019. (Twitter/PeterEloisa)
They sang every word with him, and his incredible vocal talents and effortless stage craft shone at the fore like a Van Halen in the 80’s, performing ‘Eruption,’ – but without the madness or antics. The great part of this being a vocal and performative understanding was that Wurld did not even have to shout. It also had little to do with his style of music.
By the time the performance reached ‘Drown,’ you could barely see anybody on their seats. What started with complaints eventually became a commendable showcase of effortlessly zestful stage craft.
The performance got from the doldrums of its start to a zenith by conclusion.

Details/Takeaway: For a short while, the question has been when blessed songbird will release a new album. Her last album, ‘Simisola’ was 53 minutes of unadulterated genre-fluid music that permeated the soul with several doses in rush of appreciation.
With ‘Omo Charlie Champagne Vol. I,’ she has finally responded in ‘Simi-fashion,’ the constant evolution of her undoubted ability as a singer-songwriter. On this album, there is a slight shift from the relatively-afro-centric feel to nearly all the songs on ‘Simisola’ as she shows her maturation, all in the space of just two years.
On her Instagram page, @Simplysimi, the singer attached the following message to the picture of a tracklist to the new album and it reads, “When I was compiling this album, I knew I wanted to dedicate it to my daddy, Engr. Charles Oladele Ogunleye – who passed in 2014. I’m blessed to have come this far. I’m blessed that it was possible for me. I do not take this for granted.

Song Title: Mind Your Bizness
Date of Release: April 16, 2019
Album: Omo Charlie Champagne Vol. I

You can preorder #OmoCharlieChampagne Vol. 1 on @boomplaymusicng now! ❤️. You’re welcome 😚
Earlier today, she dropped the visuals to the single.
While the video is an animation, it definitely serves the purpose of a shade at the nosy generation as clearly as it could. After the brilliance of his verse on Ice Prince’s ‘Feel Good,’ the rapper is back killing yet another feature with straight bars.
Signs point to this being a resonant single and a street anthem like the classic anti-gossip songs millennials grew up on. ‘Mind Your Bizness’ is also reported to be the ninth track of the imminent album.
So lizzzzen up. We (by we, i mean me and you) are gonna have a live performance session of my new album #OmoCharlieChampagne on the 24th of April. This April. So yea. I’m gonna give you a few days to learn the songs. Don’t let me down 😒!

Seun Kuti believes SARS will continue to harass innocent Nigerians because they believe it is normal.
Seun Kuti is the latest celebrity to speak about the brutality being faced by Nigerians by men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and he thinks their menace will continue because Nigerians think it is okay.
The Grammy nominee singer made this known during an interview with Sahara Reporters. According to him, these special police officers are only doing what they have ordered to do.
“If you think there is a problem with SARS then there is a problem with you. SARS is doing what they are paid to do, they are doing exactly what they are ordered to do. You don’t understand the attitude and psychology behind our behaviour but we all want to cry, the victim. SARS is the manifestation of our own acceptance of our dehumanization. As black people, one thing we should know is that we are entitled to be everything that humanity is, especially the bad and still be considered human being. No matter what you do, you are still a human being, this is what humans do,” he said.

The continuous harassment of innocent Nigerians by men of SARS over the years have continued to receive backlash not just from celebrities but Nigerians in general.

The last celebrity to actually call out the government over the brutality being faced by Nigerians from these police officers was Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde.

The award-winning actress made this known via her Instagram stories on Sunday, April 14, 2019. She expressed shock over the Vice President’s silence over the way and manner SARS has turned the country into a death trap.
“@profosibanjo it is shocking that Nigeria has turned into a death trap under your watch and you are silent!!! You are silent!!!!! At a time like this under your leadership,” she wrote.

Omotola’s bashing of the government didn’t go down well with those at the corridors of power as they replied her in a statement that sparked off a conversation nationwide.
In April 2018, we had the Shaku Shaku fever, that only crossing your hands in front your body and around your waist while moving the outside of your feet on 1, 2, 3, 4 rhythms, with the 3 and 4 landing on the same feet, as your head follows the rhythm your engrossed body dictates could treat.
It was a wild time for pop culture and a hate-fest for our dear friends with the infamous two left feet who finally learned shakiti bobo two years after everybody was over it.
They were still in the ‘street dance school’ at owanbe parties or at clubs trying to get schooled for shaku shaku when we started begging the self-acclaimed proponent of another movement, ‘Zlatan Abeg Nor Kill Us,’ which apparently became the meaning behind the supposed acronym that is ‘ZANKU,’ the Agege-born viral craze that keeps sweeping through Nigeria like a hurricane. GBESE!
As the dance gains more notoriety, it is then important to commend the songs that are soundtracks to this movement. For this purpose, Pulse had curated a list of 10 songs that perfectly celebrate this viral dance trend from when it started, but are still relevant now and they are;
Brainee featuring Zlatan Ibile, Chinko Ekun & DJ Spinall – Gbese
Brainee ft. Zlatan Ibile, Chinko Ekun & DJ Spinall – Gbese (Remix)
An infectious tune that is slowly but surely finding its way into the hearts of culture-inclined Nigerians and zanku aficionados. Its original version was good, but its remix looks set to catapult it into the realms Brainee probably dreams of.
Danny S – Oh My God
Danny S – Oh My God [Official Video]
After the success of ‘Ege,’ Danny S returned with a crazier jam with a crazier hook like his burgeoning underground reputation represents.
For radio stations, clean versions of songs like this are a hit, but with street DJs, they are even bigger.
Flex B – Umbele
FLEX B – UMBELE
An underground madness for the culture of zanku and Mainland, Lagos. Although released a short while before zanku began its authoritative run, and enjoyed some of that shaku shaku, the earlier days of zanku did this song some real good things.
Niniola featuring Sarz – Designer
NINIOLA FT SARZ – DESIGNER (OFFICIAL VIDEO)
It’s not quite certain that Niniola and Sarz intended this song for the zanku trend when it was released, but with zanku being the only dance Nigerians can perform at the moment and the song being dope like a plate of ofada rice with blended stew heavy on remnants of boiled fish, ponmo and the insides of a cow or goat, that was the inevitable result.
The beat is a textbook-Sarz vibe laced with some akuba drums.
DJ Tunez – Turn Up featuring Wizkid and Reekado Banks
DJ Tunez – Turn Up Ft. Wizkid x Reekado Banks (OFFICIAL AUDIO 2018)
Another song destined not destined for zanku per se, but ended up being the result. While it is slightly slower than the textbook zanku songs, the song is will make you shake every last muscle in your body like you caught an electric wave.
Zlatan featuring Lil Kesh – Jogor
Zlatan – Jogor [Official Video] ft. Lil Kesh, Naira Marley
The first major zanku showcase to the mainstream – at least, relatively. The beat ran mad with a fresh production and the celebration of lewdness on a double from Lil Kesh’s verse and zanku that was not more than a subculture or inner-city culture at the time.
Zlatan – Zanku (Legwork)
ZLATAN ZANKU LEG WORK OFFICIAL VIDEO
Stand Up! The zanku anthem the world over, with a video that conveys some of its originality – at least as a reserved part of a now mainstream culture.
The power of the song can be felt from the first line off it. The major power on this song though was the second layer/adlib/hypeman behind every rhythmic chant of ‘zanku.’
Although, it has since given way to other songs, but its status remains unshaken in the industry.
Olamide – Woske
Olamide – Woske
Killertunes had a stellar 2018 run, but his blend of electronic music, slight hints of EDM (from its strings) and shepeteri reps was initially met with some sort of skepticism outside intimate circles of Badoo’s core fanbase – it was a new move and people did not know how to react.
They also criticized the white suit and choreography scenes of the video. Fast forward, February 2019 happened, Nigerians remembered they’d always loved the song and the rest has since been history. After the song that heads off this list, it has to be the second most ‘zankufied’ song of 2018.
Burna Boy featuring Zlatan – Killin’ Dem
Zlatan X Burna Boy – Killin Dem (Official Music Video) OnASpaceship
This one simple had to happen. Burna had the best run of 2018 and Zlatan had the second strongest run during the final quarter of 2018. The first time we saw Burna and Zlatan doing this ‘zanku ting’ in what looked like a hotel room, we knew we had another problem.
The noise started rumbling and the wait couldn’t be longer until the song finally dropped one midnight in the final week of December 2018.
There and then, the story was sealed as it had representation from both sides of the spectrum equally represented on one song – bridging a gap. Of course, Zlatan had helped Burna Boy reach some power in his Zanku hustle.
To cut the long story short, Burna performed the song on the Coachella stage in the early parts of Monday, April 15, 2019 and he did the ‘Zanku moonwalk’ of which Poko Lee would be proud.
Chinko Ekun featuring Lil Kesh and Zlatan – Able God
CHINKO EKUN – ABLE GOD ft LIL KESH X ZLATAN IBILE [OFFICIAL VIDEO]
A soundtrack. An anthem that didn’t need representation from any side to appeal to people across borders. In fact, all it ever needed was its very catchy hook, “Able God shower your blessing, we want this money…” and the rest has since been history.
While this song did not have a long reign, it was soundtrack to the entire festive period in Nigeria – a peak of zanku appeal where everyone wanted to learn it or ‘carry last’ concerts.

Dakore Akande appears in a short scene that portrays her as the wealthy matriarch of the dynasty, where Kossi works as a houseboy. Also notably seen in the film’s trailer is Bolanle Ninalowo, who takes on the role of a mercenary killing a number of security aides.

‘Coming From Insanity,’ tells the real-life story of 12-year-old, Kossi, with genius-level intelligence. Kossi is one of many children trafficked through the Nigerian borders from Togo. He ends up with the Martins, an upper-middle class family of four in Lagos. At their home, he will work overtime for his meals and shelter as a houseboy. Fast forward to the present day, Kossi is still a houseboy with the Martins. He dreams of a better life, but with barely any education, he knows his future is compromised. He relies on his natural abilities and talent to carve out a way for himself, soon discovering the art of counterfeit money printing and floating the most flawless counterfeit dollars this side of the world. Now out on his own, he employs the services of a few friends and grows the operation substantially, landing him on the radar of a young determined agent at the EFCC who will stop at nothing to bring him to justice.

Wondering where to find the message? You’ve got to check out her Instagram page where she posted a video on Wednesday, April 17, 2019 and talked about busybodies and their relentlessness. She went on to caption the video with a very direct message for her haters.
“World people be like…… I’m wilding on this week’s episode of Toke Moments, 🤣🤣🤣🤣 all jokes aside though, I’m tired of the “she must be sleeping around to get ahead narrative, it’s getting boring now. This isn’t the first time a celebrity has come out to talk about busybodies who won’t mind their business. Recall that back in 2018, Okey Bakassi came for busybodies who never have anything nice to say to people rather they would drop negative comments on social media.

The veteran comedian made his frustrations known on his Instagram page on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, where he posted a video. According to him, it is really unwarranted for anyone to make comments on social media especially if they have no knowledge of the topic.
“It has become very clear to me why people fail exams is not common sense if you don’t understand something you ask questions. Even in African culture those days when things are too confusing they ask the oracle to even find the answer. So why rush to click the reply button on someone’s post on social media when you don’t understand the point. You reply and just talk nonsense, off point.
