The Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has faulted a statement credited to the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Debo Ologunagba, dismissing the suspension of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Senator Adolphus Wabara.
The Abia PDP stated that its position on the suspension of the BoT chairman aligns with the party’s constitution, which cannot be invalidated.
The chairman of the party in the state, Elder Abraham Amah, speaking during a monitored interview, said the publicity secretary was expressing his personal opinion, as his statement was not based on any official resolution from the party’s National Working Committee.
He said, “We operate under a kind of federal structure within the party. The state chapter has the right to discipline a member without recourse to the NWC.
“We can take our decisions without the approval of the NWC. The only thing that empowers us to act is our own constitution, and in doing so, we must ensure that we do not act in variance with it.”
