Step Up Your Game And Stop Blaming Managers –Henry Slams Man United Players

Former Arsenal captain, Thierry Henry has told Manchester United’s players to step up and stop blaming managers.

Henry was speaking on CBS, following United’s 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid in the Champions League round of 16 first leg.

Joao Felix’s early header was cancelled out by substitute Anthony Elanga at the Wanda Metropolitano.

United’s struggles under interim boss, Ralf Rangnick, have been well-documented this season.

Rangnick was brought in after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked in December, but has reportedly lost the support of the squad’s ‘leading heavyweights’.

But Henry insists the squad needs to stop turning against their coaches.

He said: “I don’t usually like to have a go at players but you had a teacher like Louis van Gaal, who is successful.

“They called Mourinho ‘Dictator’ because he was too much into this, too much into that. He was too direct with the players. The players didn’t like it.

“Suddenly you have a friend. They like Solskjaer because he was more of a dad, a nice guy.

“When is it going to be about the players? They have to deliver.

“It cannot always be the coach. I’m sorry those guys need to perform and start to understand where they are.”
