PDP, Aide exonerate Saraki
Fresh crisis has hit the Kogi State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), over the disqualification of Kogi West Senatorial District aspirants.
The aspirants in a statement accused the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki of being the architect of their disqualification, which paved way for an automatic return ticket to Senator Dino Melaye who recently defected to the party from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
But PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Diran Odeyemi dismissed the reported involvement of Saraki, saying all due processes and guidelines were duly followed in the nomination of the party’s candidates at all level.
The disqualified aspirants are Hon Sunday Karimi, an House of Representatives member, Hon Clement Olafemi, a former Kogi State House of Assembly Speaker, Hon Henry Ojuola, a two time member of the state House of Assembly and Hon Oreniya Salaudeen , former member of the state House of Assembly.
Also, a statement by an aide to Saraki, Olu Onemola said it was implausible for the aspirants to state the Senate president was behind their disqualification, when the party machinery screening committee was responsible for their action.
