Gombe state governor and presidential aspirant under the Peoples’ Democratic Party, (PDP), Ibrahim Dankwambo has decried the high level of insecurity in Nigeria attributing it to leadership gap in the country.
Dankwambo who raised the concern yesterday while addressing the crowd of PDP delegates in Makurdi, maintained that the present All Progressives Congress, (APC), led federal government has lost touch with the people and is working at cross purposes with the people. He cautioned that the country has come of age, noting that the nation has never seen this kind of insecurity facing the people as has been in the last few years.
The aspirant, who earlier paid a courtesy call to Governor Ortom, promised to address the lack of federal presence in the state if elected by undertaking the development of critical projects in the state to meet the yearnings of the people of the state.
Responding, Ortom alerted Nigerians that the nation is drifting from democracy to autocracy, a development, which may eventually strangulate the nation’s democracy to its death, if care is not taken, maintaining that it is time the people rise against impunity before it kills the country, observing that if leaders before now had kept doing what today’s leaders were doing there would be no Nigeria to fall on today.
