NLC forces Kano banks, government agencies, others to comply

Business activities were paralyzed early yesterday morning in Kano metropolis as members of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) forced commercial banks and government agencies to comply with the warning strike.
The labor unions are demanding Federal Government implementation of new minimum wage for Nigerian workers.
The Kano State Chairman of NLC, Comrade Kabiru Ado Mingibir, told journalists that workers in the state were fully complying with the national directive.
Kabiru said the union intended to paralyse activities of both public and private sectors, adding that the state government had already been notified.
Commercial banks in Murtala Mohammad Way, Post Office and Bello roads as well as Zoo road were closed at the time of filing this report.
The Audu Bako Secretariat was also under lock.
The roads were also devoid of the usual movement of students as public and private schools suspended business.
The students of Bayero University, Kano currently undergoing their semester examination were stranded when notified that the exercise would not continue owing to the industrial disharmony.
