Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo made his 28th apprearance for Kasimpasa on Saturday as they defeated Genclerbirligi 3-1 in a Turkish Super Lig fixture, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Omeruo, who is expected to be named in Nigeria’s preliminary squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, was issued a yellow card in the 90th minute after coming on for Bernard Mensah in the 37th minute.
It was the second time this season that Omeruo was introduced into a game this season.
His compatriot, Emem Eduok, also replaced Ihan Depes in the 68th minute of Kasimpasa’s win for his 29th game of the season. Eduok has scored seven goals and has made two assists.
In Israel, Nigeria midfielder John Ogu and forward Anthony Nwakaeme were handed starting roles for Hapoel Beer-Sheva whose hopes of clinching a third Isreali title were delayed on Saturday following their 1-0 defeat to at home to Maccabi Tel Aviv in an Israeli Championship playoffs game.
Dor Peretz scored the only goal of the game in the 44th minute for Maccabi Tel Aviv.
A win for Hapoel Beer-Sheva on Tuesday against Hapoel Haifa will land the Camels the title.
In Spain, Rio 2016 Olympics star Imoh Ezekiel came on for Jairo Sampeiro in the 51st minute of Las Palmas’ 1-0 loss at Eibar.
The game was Ezekiel’s 10th appearance of the season in the Spanish LaLiga. Super Eagles midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo, who has been battling to be fit, was not listed for the game.
In Germany, Nigerian striker Anthony Ujah was an unused substitute for Mainz 05 who lost 2-1 to Werder Bremen on Saturday.
Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun missed his fourth straight Bundesliga game despite returning to full training. Balogun has made 15 apprearances for Mainz this season.
In the Netherlands, Tyronne Ebuehi was not listed in ADO Den Haag’s side that lost 2-1 to Vitesse in Saturday’s Dutch UEFA Europa League play-off game. It was the fifth straight game in a row the 22-year-old was missing.
Ebuehi has made 28 apprearances for ADO Den Haag this season.
Home Eagles midfielder Afeez Aremu made his ninth Norwegian league start for IK Start who lost 1-0 to Brann on Saturday. IK Start are without a win in their last eight league games.
IK Start’s last league win was against Tromso on March 11.
In Hungary, Ezekiel Henty came on at half time to replace John Knezevic in Puskas Academy’s 1-0 win over Ujpest that paraded Obinna Nwobodo for the entire duration of the game.
Henty has played 16 games for Puskas Academy since he joined on a six months loan deal.
