Gernot Rohr: Super Eagles boss wants Musa, Iheanancho to leave Leicester City

Musa and Iheanacho are finding regular football hard to come by at Leicester City. Super Eagles boss Gernot Rohr has revealed that he wants Ahmed Musa and Kelechi Iheanacho to leave Leicester City. Musa has been at Leicester since the summer of 2016 while Iheanacho joined a year later.  The Nigerian players have struggled to make an impact and with both stars crucial to Rohr’s 2018 FIFA World Cup plans, the Super Eagles boss wants them to leave Leicester City in search of regular football. “We want our players to get regular football so players like Iheanacho, Musa would have to go on transfer,” Super Eagles boss said during his guest appearance on Super Sport’s Monday Night Football. Ahmed Musa  Musa had a good start in Leicester City but his influences in games began to wane and he has been completely frozen out of the team since the sacking of Claudio Ranieri. The Nigeria international was one of the reasons Ranieri was fired by Leicester City on Thursday, February 23.According to reports from England, Leicester City senior players were bemused with the coach’s decision to start Musa in their 2-1 Champions League loss to Sevilla on Wednesday, February 22.Leicester City senior players were surprised when Musa started the first leg second round game instead of the in-form Demarai Gray. These concerns were expressed in a meeting arranged by Leicester City owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha after the game. After the sacking of Ranieri, Musa has completely lost his place in the team. Save for a few cup appearances, the Nigeria international does not even make the bench for Premier League games. Leicester City manager Claude Puel believes there is a possibility of Musa leaving in the January transfer window. “We will see. Perhaps it could be a possibility. We will see with the player and the opportunity for the club also,” Puel told Sky Sports when asked about the player. Kelechi Iheanacho In a start to life at Leicester City that has been disrupted, Iheanacho has also struggled at Leicester City. Since making the move from Manchester City, the 21-year-old has made just nine Premier League appearances, starting just two of those games.Although he has scored in the League Cup, Shinji Okazaki’s good form and the arrival of Andre Silva has further kept the Nigerian away from the first team.  Leicester City manager believes  Iheanacho ‘needs to improve aspects of his play’ to get his chance.“I think Kelechi is a young player and he needs to improve aspects of his play,” Puel said after Leicester City’s goalless draw against Fleetwood Town. “Also it is difficult because he is a player behind Jamie Vardy and it means he doesn’t get many opportunities.“Shinji Okazaki is also playing well, so it is difficult for him.“He works hard on the pitch and in the training sessions and he needs to continue. I hope he can have some game time in the future.”Although Iheanacho has several clubs interested in him, they have reportedly baulked at his £115,000-a-week wage.
